Roleplaying Rules and Guidelines
Havia is a 17+ forum/roleplay. You must be 17 years old or older to play with us. If you are under 17 and wish to play, you must have permission from your parents or guardian. Havia allows mature topics, including sexual role-play and other adult situations. If you are found to have lied on your application to gain entrance, you will be banned.
Quick rules references:
New members may introduce themselves in the Members forum.
...Have a friendly, courteous attitude to other members. You do not have to be friends with everyone, but politeness will go a long way.
...Discrimination of any kind, based on the grounds of gender, religion, race, social status, age, etc. will not be tolerated.
...Please keep language reasonable, as this is an all ages board.
...If you have poor spelling and grammar, please try to be as clear as possible.
...No spam. Advertisements for products, websites or services, will be deleted. If you wish to place an advertisement on HAVIA, seek administrator permission by sending an e-mail or personal message to Havia. We reserve every right to refuse requests for ad placement on our forums.
...As a courtesy to others, signatures must not exceed five (5) lines in length. Signatures containing links to inappropriate websites are considered spam, and these members will only be given one warning.
...Do not resurrect old threads, as this will mingle the old topics with the new. Also, be patient and wait for responses to your messages; do not bump threads by replying to your own posts. Be patient and wait for a reply from other members.
...If you want to discuss role-playing ideas or just chat with other members, use the (OOC) Out of Character Discussion forum.
Role-playing rules & requirements:
...Do not -ever- tell anyone how to RP, what to RP, or how they are RPing wrong either IC (in character) or OOC (out of character). If you don't like their RP, avoid them. If their RP is a serious breech of fiction, report it to the Admins/Mods. Otherwise, mind your manners and keep your opinions to yourself.
...OOC conversations are allowed, however, they should not interfere with ongoing role-play. We recognize that not everyone wishes to role-play everytime we do. But, it is expected that those who are OOC take their conversations away from gathering spots, and not engage in OOC near others involved in role-play.
...Do not take the role-playing personally. Character actions do not always reflect the feelings of the players. Furthermore, if you are annoyed at a fellow player, do not drag this into the game if it's not validated in any way.
...Providing your ideas fit into the game as a whole, you are welcome to begin your own adventure. However, make sure your plot does not ignore or exclude other characters or settings. Make sure your new side-story fits into HAVIA so other characters can join.
...When in Guild Hall, everything you say is considered in Roleplay Mode, to do actions, it must be between *asteriks* and when you want to chat normally just say OOC before your text.
...On the flip side, this is fantasy, not reality, and if you find that TOO much of your role-play is affecting you personally, you may need to go outdoors and get some sunshine, or better drugs. *smiles* If your taking of IC stuff OOC begins to affect the community, be prepared for us to help you out that door.
Characters guide:
...New characters may be introduced in an out of character environment in the Characters Background forum.
...When you list your character, you will be expected to bring that character into the game at one stage or another. We are not a feedback service for off-site characters. If you do not intend to role-play that particular character with us, do not list your character in our Characters Background.
...No characters may violate copyright. Your character must be your own creation.
...Ideally, your character should originate from Havia. We strongly advise against creating characters from other worlds.
...Gods or special characters are NOT allowed! Of course everyone wish to be that special one that will lead the way to a whole new story; but remember, there is only one GM. Special characters MAY be allowed with my permission and only if you are known around Havia as a commited member.
